Manchester United’s Daniel James has not found it easy for opportunities to come by for him at club level this season, hence, he hasn’t been able to impress his club boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær. However, he was handed a chance on the international stage and he showed just what he is capable of ok his day.
The young winger was impressive for his countryside Wales while away on international duty. In the game against Finland, he scored a goal and recorded a fine assist in what was a fine performance from him on Wednesday night. His two-goal contribution resulted in a 3-1 win over Finland – a result that secured the Wales team’s Nations League promotion.
Manchester United legend Roy Keane was a guest on the ITV Nations League Highlights Show and he analyzed James’s struggles at United this season. Keane said that he was glad to see James put up such a sublime and eccentric performance for his National team side, especially given that he has endured a difficult spell at Old Trafford.
James set up Kieffer Moore who found the back of the net – an assist that was described by Keane as cool. He added that it was nice to see James keep it simple. He added that he thinks the former Swansea winger has had some issues with his confidence over the past few months and that it is great to see him back getting numbers and accolades, especially on the international stage.
Truly, James had looked short of confidence and of course, it is as a result of him not getting enough game time under Olé. After getting the United supporters off their seats in his first few games after joining the Red Devils, he has encountered several difficulties in trying to replicate that form.
Solskjær will be hoping that Dan James returns to the club with this confidence as the club look to climb up the table by first sealing a win against West Brom on Saturday.
